KITCHEN TIPS……………………

Happy Friday everyone, here are a few more little tips to help you in the kitchen this Christmas, we just never know what can be useful at this busy time, Juicy Chicken, can easily be made by a peeled lemon and stock cube inside the chicken before placing it into the oven, gives a wonderful tender juicy taste. Do you know how to keep coliflour perfectly white, pop a glass of milk into the boiling water or a round of bread soaked in milk and wrapped in an appropriate fabric so that it will not fall apart, do not cover the pan while boiling. An easy way to peel large red peppers is to wrap them in a kitchen towel, fresh from the oven, within minutes you will see how easy the skin falls away.

vinegar mishap, how often do we make a fabulous salad and when dressing the salad, oops vinegar galore, an easy little trick here is a soft ball of bread, pop it into the salad and the excess vinegar will be absorbed by the bread ! When we find we have enough pasta to feed an army,but really dislike the way it sticks the following day, if you wrap the pasta in a clean kitchen towel and store in the fridge till the following day, place the pasta in a drainer over a pan of boiling water and you will see that the vapor brings the pasta back to its original flexible way. The little secret behind that earthy taste found in spinach, for future little Popeye’s pop in a spoon of sugar while preparing. And finally today, did you know that by frying lentils a little in oil before boiling them can avoid having to use the pressure cooker, and can save us very valuable time.

LOOKING GOOD AT CHRISTMAS !!

We all wish to look great at Christmas, just that little more special for these wonderful holidays, although we may try every year not to eat too much over the festive time, we always do ! 

We are always thinking of ways to lose those extra pounds, before or after the holidays, are you fed up of giving up all your favourite foods and making sacrifice after sacrifice….and complicating your life with this and that. The best way is a little micro diet, just seven days before Christmas, this works whenever you need it and is great for the holiday time…..you just cut back on everything you eat, make your portion that little bit smaller, no picking in between meals, or fruit, you can do this for seven days…….your worth it, and so are the results…….. this is not a diet where you will instantly put back all the pounds you have lost… this type of diet is when you burn all your calories rapidly, it takes your reserve of sugar and glucose right out of your body, for your body to continue functioning correctly your energy has to come from another part of your body,……………………….. and the yo-yo effect begins.

We need to change our habits slightly, don’t make a big thing about, just slightly adjust, not a big gigantic change that you are going to resent, when we are surrounded by so much food it is difficult and we dont want to be adding to that, just stop for a second and try to value what you are about to do, do you really need sugar in your yogurt ? Do the vegetables need so much butter, keeping to good habits is what really keeps you from recuperating the pounds……..Are biggest enemy when we want to lose weight is the fact that we can’t “prohibited” that is why this micro diet is not stopping you from eating anything, it’s just a little less, so we should not have that urge for prohibited fruits ! One of the most important points with any weight control and in general is to drink water, if possible two liters a day, it sounds a lot, but it really makes the difference. Each kilo you lose is a kilo of fat less and not a kilo of muscle. Here are five little tips for us to be radiant at Christmas time…………..

Avoid any very sugared cereals for breakfast, muesli is an excellent choice that you can make yourself, mixing in fruit nuts and dried fruits.

Intelligent little snacks, when we are half way through the morning and would like something a little sweet, before we fall into the trap remember that chocolate is the same as five blocks of sugar, replace this temptation with a yogurt and a piece of fruit. 

If you had to much of a light lunch, enjoy an afternoon snack of a glass of water or tea with a small sandwich of brown bread with a slice of ham or light cheese or maybe toast/bread with fresh cheese low in fat or a sweeter version would be a kiwi or orange and light cheese a yogurt and three dried apricots.

Water – as mentioned try to drink 2 liters a day, just think that a liter of a normal refreshment is the same of 20 spoons as sugar, water is zero

And last but not least if you must have a dessert, try to make it home-made, this way you can reduce the sugar intake and still enjoy.

BEING EMPLOYED !……………………………..

Job 1Maybe you are looking for a new job, or you would just like to keep the you have ? The figures for unemployment in Europe is probably the first worry of most families, until we all swing back into recuperation mode ? (will this ever really happen) however until then, we need to take note of certain things we can do to maintain or find future employment. We cannot change the world employment climate, but the right attitude to finding and currently working can help us, motivation is a big secret to success, in times of crisis it is more important than ever to not fall into the pit of no interest and what is commonly known as being “burnout” we all suffer from this, at least once in our working life, but, generally it is inoffensive . However we need to take care in the times we are in, due to many companies reducing their working force. If you are at the point of counting the minutes until your day is over, you need to address this situation and put an end to it, here are a few things that may help you overcome this time, Set yourself goals, nothing keeps you going more than goals to achieve, thanks to these we find a little more strength to keep moving forward and to reach the goal. Look for support, in family members or friends, don’t isolate yourself, this will only bring you down, and you will need to look for professional help.Believe in yourself, many people fall into the trap of under estimating themselves and are unable to set goals as they convince themselves that they will not reach the goal and therefore lose motivation. Work more, at times less work can stress you out more than an overload, so always look for things to occupy yourself and give you more responsibility. Always show interest, the more interest you show, the more people will look towards you for new opportunities and possibilities. Do you like your work ? when there is a shortage of work or an economic crisis many people work just for the salary and do work that gives them no satisfaction, our work should be a stimulate to us and not a frustration, although this may not be the perfect time to change, it is always a good time to analyse your situation and options, and maybe prepare for when opportunities come your way.

Contacts are always worth having, 50% of employment opportunities come from people we know, or through the people they know. You need to let people know about your situation . Opportunity is at times in the least expected places, so always be prepared. If you are looking for employment,send  out your CV, to all the companies you feel may need your type of services, you can also adapt , each position is different. Always have a letter of presentation on hand, which show your interest in the company, your capabilities to work for them and your references or a small professional resume. Never disregard an option, you just never know. Keep control of all the information you have sent out and to who, to be able to do a follow-up. Be constant and never give up hope, if you do not receive a positive answer today it could be tomorrow. Do not allow a complex to take over, due to your unemployment, and don’t close any doors, even if you are not in the final decision, doors can open at any time. There are many ways to find employment and your attitude and how you present yourself are all taken into account.

Christmas Wish list

Now if we could  go back to when we were children and remember are list to Santa meant everything to us, whether we posted it or popped it up the chimney the believe that you had and felt at that moment was totally unforgettable, so why can we not re-live this moment now, when we ask the universe for what we wish for, in our life today, because we are adults you may say to yourself, but I have a good question for you , lets see if you can answer with all honesty ? Do you trust and believe your partner in life……….do you share your deepest dreams and wishes with them ? and have they ever let you down ! ?

The universe does not answer what we request, but it does have it ways of showing us the correct path to take and to bring are wishes into reality it helps to create the ideal situation for wonderful things to appear and happen to us, the universe will never work against you it works with you every time………so end and start your year well, clarify exactly what you want in your life, in each separate area, and remember use and act with your emotion, focus deeply on what you want, know the meaning of you moving forward with your thoughts know your key people in your life, work with your relationships well, make small acts towards your goals each day,small acts can have a great effect, just think of a small stone creating a ripple!

HEALTHY START 2018

Healthy start 1

We are so into presents, dinners and Christmas joy, we just might forget about ourselves here, a little tip would be to get into your new routine before the year ends, that way, your habit is already formed for the start of next year… Super healthy tips where constant becomes your best friend !! 

Start by moving your body, how many of you have spent the last year saying how you were going to sign in at the gym, and……. you just have not got there ! shame on you……. we really do believe we are going to go and participate, it is the biggest promise many of us break…Choose which form of exercise you want to do, which one suits you best, yoga Pilates if you are looking to take down your stress levels, go for zumba or Sh’ban if you are looking for fun…spinning or crossfit if you are looking to improve those muscles and gain physical resistance….and if the gym is not your thing get into swimming or enjoyable cycling or even dancing, these all give you a great work out and you are moving, which is what counts, a nice walk is also perfect.

Start your day as a queen, after a perfect sleep your sugar levels are very low, your brain feeds of glucose and this feeds the muscles, which is why it is so important to have breakfast, Leave the laziness to one side and make that effort your mind and body need that morning dose of energy .

As mentioned before, dancing is a great way to move, but it also supplies us with contact, we all need human contact in a relationship or a daily friendship, when we have this interaction with others, it makes us happy, we are all happy when we are cared for and given attention, it shows in how we walk, talk listen we love to be happy it is one great way to be healthy.

Dedicate time to ourselves, time to relax to concentrate on mindfulness, yoga meditate etc., this will help you to avoid anxiety in your day-to-day problems, if you don’t enjoy this kind of activity, dedicate time to yourself with a relaxing bath, an hour of your favourite hobby, just never forget that you are important.

Sweet dreams are very important and should not be forgotten, you know how you feel if you are short on sleep, the next day your stress levels will soar, have you ever related tiredness with your stress chart !a few good tips for a good night sleep is to never go to sleep immediately after eating, do not have distractions near your bed side that have any form of a blue light, try to keep noise out and have a good temperature, not to hot and not to cold.

CHRISTMAS KINDNESS………….

When you think of Christmas and Christmas time, what first comes into your mind, do you think we think of ourselves and are family or do we give some thought to those less fortunate than ourselves. 

Christmas can be a wonderful time and full of happiness and joy, and for others it can be a sad and even depressing time, this maybe because of people we are missing and this places us with a heavy heart, or it could be are circumstances that do not allow us to celebrate,  or we may have been living with a Grinch, and Christmas is just another bad day, however even Christmas can be a question of choice, we cannot change what has gone but we can change how we see are tomorrows and this has nothing to do with the material side of this holiday, it is down to us and how we decide to see and share this day.

It is a perfect time of the year to have re-organised our wardrobes and closets, we tend to accumulate so much stuff ! yes stuff……but you know our stuff, can be something very precious to others and needed, never just throw things away, if they are in good condition, take a short trip to your local charity shop or organisation and donate all you can, even food parcels are great at this time of the year, in fact any time of the year, it really is a lovely feeling to know you have helped others and maybe helped to make them smile, we all need love and kindness so let’s make a point of spreading a little around ………………….any time is a good time ❤
