Did you know that to celebrate New Year in Spain, you have to be prepared with 12 grapes ?

This story dates back to 1895, it became popular when the Alcantese vine growers started the tradition. (Alcantese, being the Alicante region) .
Eating the twelve grapes is a tradition and a superstition in Spain, the twelve lucky grapes are eaten with each chime of the clock at midnight, that means 12 grapes in 12 seconds, one grape for each month of the year to bring luck, and it is considered back luck if they are not all eaten! Another spanish tradition is to wear red underwear on New Years Eve.

When we first got together I was presented with a Three Kings Day gift, which was new to me!

The three kings can be really spectacular depending where you are in Spain, I will be doing a post, but until recently when they really brought Santa into their fiestas, the Kings where the thing, that was a Spanish Christmas.
