What a year, can you really believe where we are, three-quarters of the year has gone, September is around the corner………and the end of the summer is very close, in my part of the world (Spain) it can be seen in a big way, August is the big holiday month here, and this week-end will see a big difference in many areas of the Spanish coast line and the now popular inland…….. Most Spanish people will be returning home after their annual family holiday, and Monday will see the majority of them back at work , and by lunch time they maybe feeling that they have never been away, the routine will start and they will be back on the tread mill, we all know that feeling right. The children still have a little way to go as most of them will return to school around the 11th September, after some 12 weeks holiday, it is such a long time for them, but mainly needed due to the heat over the summer months.
It is important where possible to get back into the routine, one step at a time, as much for adults as for children, if we rush back from our holiday and try to do everything for a normal Monday morning, it maybe is not going to happen without causing a considerable amount of stress, I would suggest that you wash just what is needed, if anything for your normal working life, just prepare your clothes and children’s if you have little ones…the food you will need and take things as casual as you can take each day as it comes and give yourself a set time to go through your holiday clothes and chores, it can be on a daily basis or set aside an hour on saturday morning, no more, don’t spend hours and hours this will stress you and your family.
September is known for depression and the blues, getting back into that routine and the change of lifestyle can be hard, so think how you can do this with as little stress as possible……….you are not going to be lounging on the beach and taking a plunge every now and again in the med, so making up for that is going to be difficult, maybe try to get out in the fresh air as much as possible, take lunch in the park and a coffee on a nice terrace, you may think this is impossible, but most towns have a park and most coffee shops have a little street terrace now, so seek them out and use them until the weather no longer permits you to do so.
The most important part of this exercise is how you handle this in your mind, our mindset, it always come back to this, no matter what it is, how we approach this is how well we will do !! Think of how much you enjoyed your recent holidays, but also think how much you are going to enjoy the next wonderful season of the year and of course finally looking forward to Christmas, yes this may sound like a nightmare, but it is on its way……..so start to give it some thought and don’t stress out about that !

That is an interesting learn for the culture there. Here in the states, I dont even think it even makes it a difference – just seem like it just okay shorts and tank top season is over, then pants hoodies (i love fall / winter the cold crisp air and bundling up) but the sun is important too. You made a valid point on the depression people do not realize how important the intake of the sun is. My plan this fall / winter that i have to “hibernate” is going to gym 3x a week for half hour (thats all i can do with time frame) and i plan to upkeep with socializing and be influenced by the positive and less toxic.
Thank you for sharing
