Today is Palm Sunday, it is a Christian moveable feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter. The feast commemorates Jesus triumphal entry into Jerusalem, an event mentioned in each of the four canonical Gospels.
This day is a celebration in most countries across the world. Sadly this year due to the Coronavirus the Easter walk through the streets and hanging of the decorated artistic Palms will not be displayed, however I hope that this cannot be removed from within your hearts……..and that we celebrate this Palm Sunday with special thoughts for ourselves.
In Spain (my part of the world)
In Elche Spain, the location of “Palmeral of Elche” (the biggest palm grove in Europe) there is a tradition of tying and covering palm leaves to whiten them away from sunlight, and then drying and braided them in elaborate shapes.
I hope that where ever you may be across the world, you have a pleasant Palm Sunday.
It is beautiful, I have been out and about this morning, everyone in their sunday best… the little one’s especially, I must admit Spain is very good at keeping the old tradition’s alive
Thank you for your comment
