If you are like me, and in a country bursting at the seams for the summer to start, you will also be inundated with propaganda on the TV and magazines referring to your perfect figure for your beach days, so are you under pressure ?
It can be very confusing with all the information that is out there at the moment, I personally believe that eating good healthy food and in the right quantities are usually the best solution to any excess weight problem. If you are working out a diet plan don’t forget to include protein, which can be in the form of fish meat poultry milk eggs cheese beans bread pasta and rice, Fats in the form of butter, cheese vegetable oils, you always need a little fat when you have a diet plan as this will provide energy.Vitamins A B C D E & K are needed on a daily basis if you wish for good health, a good healthy diet contains fruit vegetables fish liver eggs meat and bread. Minerals are also needed on a daily basis especially iron and calcium, calcium can be found in milk cheese yogurt sardines salmon and green vegetables, iron is found in liver,lean meat eggs and dried fruit, and of course don’t forget fibre wholemeal bread porridge potato skins and green vegetables.
So what can the reasons be for weight gain ? there are many facts to take into consideration here, but one of course and possible the main one would be that we eat more than we need for the life we lead…..this does not been you are greedy and eat all day, we are all so different in shape and size and we all use up our food in different ways also. This is what we know as our metabolic rate, this can gallop away or can be really slow, so we need to eat less, it might make you angry but it is true, if this is your case you can’t help it but you can help to stabilize it. Of course the other big problem could be due to medical problems, glandular problems can cause overweight , water retention can be another reason especially in women, one of the little secrets here are not to be alarmed and don’t weigh yourself too often, your body can at times suddenly put on several pounds simply by what you have eaten but this disposes of it self just as quickly. A lot of people weigh more at the end of the day than at the beginning, just weigh yourself once a week as it can vary quite a lot. Some people say that carbohydrates rice pasta jams sugar cakes bread and potatoes can cause water retention but I cannot confirm this.
It is known that some people suffer from emotional hunger, this is people who eat when upset, worried or bored, it is a terrible problem to have, because to be able to rectify this you have to study yourself a little and watch and be prepared for when you trigger this, in order to stop before you start ! Not easy but can be done with persistent effort. One of the big things you need to avoid is the yo-yo effect, slimming down, bingeing out then fighting back the kilos, this is not good for your health or your emotional state.
To have a great summer, the most important thing is that you are happy at where you are at, we where not all born to be top models but we can all be happy, and this depends on you, feel comfortable in your own skin, take care of your health because without that, nothing is worth the effort, we need to be healthy and then be happy within our limits
