Stress, the one visitor nobody wants in their life, it is thought that more than 12.5 million people (adults) suffer from anxiety and stress of some kind and on a frequent basis.
So, why are we so stressed in this day and age, could it be the total connection between us and are new friend the lap top, which comes between human contact on all levels and even can take are concentration away from our work, I am not condoning totally our computer world, it does have its great side also, like right now, how would I do this ? but I think that some of us should control a little more our time on the internet. Can you imagine they are even now looking into a strip of tape that can calculate your saliva and then with the help of an app, they can tell you your stress levels !!
A good way to help reduce stress, could be by reducing our multi-tasking we all take far too much on and just think we can take on more and more. When will we realise that we are not robots, we really do bring this on ourselves, then sadly the people around us see us doing this wonderful job, they just don’t think twice on just piling on a little more, but we have led them to believe we can cope with this and more, so we are to blame, no one else, this is where having the ability to say NO comes in handy, it is a word we should all learn and the sooner the better. Sleep what you need to and not one minute less, (more than 7 hours is recommended) you should also determine a timetable for your lap top, and keep to it……and of course as mentioned yesterday a little exercise and eating well always help in reducing stress.
Music is a wonderful way to reduce stress, music has a calming effect and has been proved to help in many stressful situations and people. There are certain anti- stress tones which help us relax, classical music also has a calming effect along with the sound of the ocean, and nature. How we breathe also can help us control our stress levels, and even help with back pain which can also be attached to stress, when we breathe in through the mouth and let it sink deep into our stomach area and then release it through the mouth, this will strengthen our muscles and relax us at the same time. Also walking, taking in the fresh air is a definite treat for anyone, a brisk walk can drive away negative thoughts and lift our spirits to a happier level.
Meditation is also a marvelous way to avoid stress or to calm the nerves after a stressful day, the art of meditation can at times be difficult to get into, but once you have the hang of it, meditation can bring great relief to anyone suffering from stress. If you have difficulty in meditating, a useful tool for you would be a guided meditation which just needs your presence and concentration and drift into your meditation with the voice.
