Depression is not a friend to anyone, and when it decides to visit us, many of us try to hide the fact from friends and family, even though they are not 100% aware that it is depression………….. Our eating habits can be changed, from having healthy eating habits and enjoying food to the full we can go to barely trying any kind of food, a total loss of appetite, and the curious thing is that it can also work in reverse we can find ourselves eating all day everyday, way beyond our usual in take of food, when can have dramatic problems with sleeping our whole sleeping routine, is thrown into havoc, we can find ourselves totally exhausted even when we have more sleep than normal……..we can lose our patience easily, we become irritable, angry and upset, depression at times does not allow us to see these patterns, it goes un-noticed……….

Our productivity can change, we find difficulty in concentrating and thinking in a clear manner, we start to make mistakes we would normally not make…….Our social life goes all to pot, you will go to work and school as needed, but all social events will be left slowly by the wayside, losing all interest in any kind of interaction with others……our emotions seem to abandon us, and we have a hard time responding with them, ,this is far more that feeling sad, it is a numbness that invades the body and we cannot return to a happy state, we totally forget the meaning of happiness or positivity………Depression will always want you to put yourself down, you will feel totally worthless , only negative behaviour and feelings rule your life, everything will seem very black to you and totally negative in every aspect of your life.

Depression is not something to be taken lightly, it weighs very heavy on the person suffering, it is not something you can choose to be or have, it is not a decision you make upon waking. Depression is long and drawn out and complicated to understand, if you have some one around you with depression or suspected depression, professional help is needed and a tremendous amount of patience and love and care, Depression not only affects the life of the person concerned  it also can make drastic changes in the life of those around that person. We need to be aware, and try to stop depression creeping up on you and your loved ones.
