household tips

This week lets take a look at helpful little tips for the home front, we need all the help we can get in this holiday time, and some you will remember and help you out thought-out the year……

The magic of milk, if you have some beautiful lace that has lost that white colour typical of delicate lace, you need to wet it in boiling milk and iron, white leather belts should be wiped with equal parts of milk and egg whites, fabrics that are losing the colour should be left overnight in milk !!

Are you wooden drawers sticking, this could be one of two things, maybe your stop point at the back of the drawers are out of line or you need to rub the side tops with soap or wax or you may in extreme cases need to rub them down a little with sand paper.

Now, how many of us find that during the winter months we wet are beautiful shoes, should this happen, never place them in front of a heater, dry them clean them and cover them in linseed oil, wrap them in newspaper and place them on their side.

milk

Ball point pens, great things and very useful, but unfortunately when they fall into the wrong hands or even just break in are pocket or bag, we need to be applied a solution to remove the marks, the best way is with essence of vinegar, apply with a clean cloth and later rub until dry, you may need to repeat this more than once.

Would you like to have a deep freezer free of any odours at all, at times just cleaning them is not always enough, however if you place a bowl with vinegar and boiled milk, you will find that all odours will disappear, you only need to leave it for a few minuets.

The rubber seal that we find in our washing machines, fridge etc., can be kept in perfect condition by rubbing them with glycerine , you will find that they close better last longer and will actually use less electric.

smells

The importance of keeping that micro wave clean, don’t forget that little bits and pieces of food and liquids can damage the micro wave, to avoid this take a damp cloth with lemon or bicarb.

If you love fresh flowers in your home like me, you may find at times that the flower vase you use will smell a little, I have a few little tips for this, one is a few drops of bleach in the water, or when the vase is empty place the left overs of wet coffee beans or powder and leave over night, the following day clean as normal, they really will shine and look fabulous.

Have you ever found any  nasty rust marks in your sink or bath, not nice at all, you can use the general cleaning materials on the market on my solution would be warm vinegar !! works a treat

Ok, there you go, don’t work to hard, the pressure is on, Christmas is round the corner , have a great week-end ❤
