Did you know that recently it is said that one in five people suffer from a form of anxiety, however the good news is, you can learn how to manage this, the key is to know what triggers this and what is hiding behind this anxiety. You need to find ways to find an equilibrium between your everyday obligations and your hobby activities, when looking for the equilibrium you need to be brave enough to say NO, to anything that takes your energy and YES to anything that enriches your life and where you obtain that feel good sensation inside and out, surround yourself with positive people and open yourself up to new experiences, people and places.
It is also known that more than 50% of people missing work is due to anxiety and stress. At times anxiety is a little machine, which sets itself in motion hiding behind an emotional problem that has not been resolved.
If you find that your anxiety is provoked by a meeting to be held at work, (this is a good and common example , one of thousands we could choose) you find you can’t sleep well the night before, you go to work earlier to prepare, which you feel makes you feel better, but you still find that your will suddenly accelerate and you have difficulty breathing, without speaking to anyone and you find it very easy to cry, anxiety is a way of telling us that we have emotional issues that need to be resolved, anxiety can show in many ways, insomnia, tiredness, breathing difficulties, dry mouth, nervous appearance, tachycardia , no self-worth ,all these things can affect us in our everyday life, which carries onto our family life, social and working enviroment. However, we all have a little anxiety in some shape or form, depending on the life we lead, a normal level of anxiety will prepare us with sufficient caution in dangerous situations and help us maintain concentration for the work we have ahead of us. The problem is when we let this level go to high and it converts into fear and we become paralysed, this is when we need to seek help.
So why does this appear in our life ? Anxiety is becoming one of the worst enemies of our modern world, as it affects a great part of our society, and the worst part is, if this is allowed to escalate the anxiety can turn into a depression. There are many reasons why anxiety can appear in your life, it can be due to chemicals you take into your body, i.e. drugs alcohol or lack of vitamins and of course certain illnesses. It can also be how much we expect from ourselves, in this modern-day society, we really do put many demands on ourselves, mortgages, college school fees etc., but it can also be due to our irrational thoughts on how our life and the world should be going. We have more pressure today to be beautiful, perfect, slim active, and be successful, I believe in all of this, but I do not agree with obsession, that is when it becomes dangerous to you and your health.
What does anxiety hide ? For all the many reasons, it can be as mentioned before, an unresolved issue, somewhere in your life, this is where you have to do some of the work, with the help of a professional to find that point that you have not resolved, that you have not accepted or done in your life, that is always in your mind, you may have a pretty perfect life, you are happy in your social and working life, but anxiety seeks in, this is an unresolved issue. Once you find this issue and work through it, you will find that the anxiety will leave you and you will be able to have a happy balanced life, without anxiety. Learning how to smile at good and bad things that life throws at you these are a simplly a form of learning and growing.
Are you this person, that jumps into action every time something goes wrong, STOP right now, we are not super humans and just creating more and more anxiety will come with a heavy price tag, as mentioned before learn how to say NO, think more of yourself and take control of your anxiety, you will also find help and relief is by watching your diet, it should be equilibrated and healthy (certain foods can create more anxiety) Try to exercise as much as possible, it will help to eliminate toxins and release tension, a regular walk can be sufficient for you to feel good. Learn to breathe well, clear your mind and find your interior equilibrium, no matter what happens in your outside world, learn how to be serene and calm. Yoga, tai chi meditation can be good and helpful for this. Learn to live in the present, stop thinking about what you have done previously or what is going to happen in the future, live in the moment, the present is where we are, if you learn to live in the present and hold a positive attitude you will feel more tranquil and calm. And finally and maybe one of the most important, know who you are and what you want, consider yourself not the society around you, make decisions to achieve where and what you want to go, make the changes necessary to get you to where you want to go.
