The secret to the perfect little lunchtime rest, after a midday meal, it can often be the time when we start to feel tired, but we fight to not sleep or dose, well, the experts consider it much better to allow ourselves to slip into a wonderful siesta, no matter where we are, but never for longer than the perfect time !
Sleeping in the open-air, the perfect outdoor situation is in a hammock, under the shade of a big tree, surrounded by nature, but, in reality in our urban setting it can be very different. However you can always stretch out in the local park, a nice green area or maybe a local sandy beach, the main question is that you are comfortable. If you are not at home, just adjust your clothing to feel loose and at ease, remove shoes and feel good.
If you are at home, a good start is to reduce the light, close the shutters or draw the curtains, keep the room well aired and you can if you wish play soft background music,, it does not matter if you are on the sofa or your bed, but always try to lift the legs and be able to stretch, it is not good to sleep for more that 30 mins, as you can finish feeling worse, 20/30 mins is perfect for you, your body and health.
If you are in the work place, you may be able to rest a little, by closing your eyes and focus on releasing tension, you will find that your neck and shoulders will relax, this siesta without actually sleeping can be beneficial to you, close your eyes softly tap your face for a few mins and make the most of a moment with fewer people in your work space.
Enjoy your siesta, when you do this on a daily basis, you really will start to feel the benefits it can bring, it is a new habit, so give it time, and remember no more that 20/30 mins, summer or winter.
