Human Warmth and Compassion

I think that empathy is important not only as a means of enhancing compassion, but I think that generally speaking, when dealing with others on any level. If you’re having some difficulties it’s extremely helpful to be able to try to put yourself in the other person’s place and see how you would react to the situation.

On a personal level, being open and sharing things can be very useful. Because of this nature I can make friends more easily, and it’s not just a matter of knowing people and having a superficial exchange but of really sharing my deepest problems and suffering. And it’s the same thing when I hear good news. I immediately share it with others. So, I feel a sense of intimacy and connection with my friends.

  1. This is so true, I always put myself in the shoes of other before passing judgement or unconscious biasses. What a great read for ending your week, thank you so much for sharing these words of wisdom.

  2. Very true words. I am proud to say my school reports often used to say “thoughtful of the needs of others” amongst the more usual things like, “should concentrate more, talks too much”! I never took much notice, it was just another school report, telling me to work harder, but now looking back, I learnt quite a lot from boarding school, aside from academics. With 350 other girls from around the world, missing their parents, I did indeed learn to be thoughtful of the needs of others and I continue to try and remember this.
