Do you love your work ? or are you a workaholic ? Compulsively working is a sure sign, your team mates or yourself may imply that you just generally love your work, there is a difference, it can imply that you feel compelled to do it, dedication and a wish to get on is not feeling compelled, can you control the impulse to never stop, or does it control you ?. There is no certified medical condition that defines a workaholic, although conditions such as stress, impulse control disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder can be related, do you fit into any of these catergories. Working hard is not the same either as a workaholic.
The workaholic will have different types of behavioural problems, and each one is valued in different ways. On a positive note it can be seen in people who are devoted in wishing to express their worth to their career of choice. This is usually linked to a paying job, but it may also refer to an independant venture, music, art, science sports. However, it is more commonly used in the negative term, and negative behavioural problems, there is a pattern which can easily be seen, a person that spends excessive amounts of time at work, a compulsion to work hard and harder all the time, they will neglect their families and any other social relations. They have no buzz, doing anything except work. We all understand that our jobs should be given 100% and if you love your work even more so, but this does not mean we surrender our life to this, my father always told me, “work hard Play hard” It’s great advice, because if we don’t have things in the right perpective we lose our balance, which we need for our well being, to be happy, to incorporate what should be in our life, into our life, our families, our friends, our interests and never forget ourselves. It is so easy to fall into the trap of work, work, work maybe you even live on your own and feel it’s fine to do this, it takes up your hours and your days pass quickly, NO this is not the answer, you need to change, incorporate other things into your life, sport, art, your family even a nice stroll is great to blow the cobwebs away, and maybe the most important, learn how to relax and enjoy your own company, you certainly dont know anyone better than yourself !!
So this is where, you really need to get to know yourself, and decide if you love your work or are you a workaholic. Do you need to change your daily habits and routines, incorporate other aspects that bring you pleasure that is not work related. Try it, you just might like it, go for your goals and dreams always, keep focused always and work and take action for everything you want always, but dont forget to play and enjoy, by keeping balanced you will get to your goal and maybe even quicker, the secret recipe is to have a well being within yourself, to believe in yourself and to use your inner power incorporating everything good that life has to offer.
