You may be an excellent worker, but if you do not inspire true confidence to your boss, you could be over looked time and time again, they have to see and feel your responsibility and commitment. Do you want to know how to get there ?….. Do you feel that you form part of the company where you work, that you contribute to the success of that business, do you take part in activities and courses organized by your company. Do you help yourself by having an attitude of resolving problems as they appear, and not creating problems and of course taking advise when given to you.
Do you express your desire to get ahead, to do well in your career, you may feel it is obvious, but for some it is not, it’s good to voice your opinion from time to time. If you don’t express yourself, you could be passed over when an opportunity is available. The way to success, is a step at a time, but you have to choose well, when to make these steps. Many companies make an annual scale of improvement, this could be a good time to talk to your superior, objectives will be made at this time and you can be included. Always show what you are worth, and never take on more than you can chew, this would have an adverse effect, and is not good for anyone. Always be an excellent professional, fulfil your obligations, always be in a position to learn more and have true passion for what you do. It is also very important, to know your strong points and capacities, this way we avoid making a step when we are not ready.

If your position requires you to be a team member, be one, don’t strike out on your own, being able to work in a team is important and many companies look for this quality, healthy competition is good within a team, but not looking to be always the great individualist, when you work well in a team, you work well for yourself.
When looking for employment, a good question on your part is, does this company like to promote within the company staff, where possible, this gives you a good indication of your possibilities and it also tells them you are looking to grow, and with them. Remember that a promotion can also be horizontal not always vertical, taking on new goals (that you know you can learn or manage) this is an interesting road to success, it also enables you to become better and implicate yourself more.
And finally, but of the utmost importance is you, you are your business card, first impressions count, always prepare yourself well for an interview and how you present yourself daily in your workspace. Your appearance, will tell others a great deal about you.
