LOVE – Love letters, when was the last time you received a love letter, if you hav’nt you really do not know what you are missing, sadly everyone now likes to send text messages or whattsapp or emails, eh…whats that, a letter written by hand is so special, we even send ecards, birthdays christmas whatever the occassion even a thank you note is sent through the little box, as I call it, don’t get me wrong, I’m not knocking the net, but, when it comes to love letters I’m sorry, there is no comparison, even when we can add little kisses and hearts and teddy bears and anything you can think of really. I understand it is so easy, we sit down, write away press the button and there you go, it’s gone ! right into the inbox of the waited one.
However, a written letter (which show’s you alot about the person who sends it) is something that has been created especially for you, it takes longer to formulate the sentence, as it is thought about much more, than when our fingers run automatically over the keys, we take time out of our day to write it down, maybe we seek special paper and a matching envelope and yes we have to buy a stamp and even post it……(what time wasting….you may be thinking) but it is done with love and passion. The whole process of receiving a letter from your loved one is a special experience, that cannot be met by pressing our inbox, the whole experience is different.
Have you ever seen letters from years ago, maybe your parents or grandparents, such love was sent from one place to another, a little card to say all is well, I have some of these from my grandparents obviously is was the only way they could communicate back then, but they have a special air about them, the cards were very ornate and detailed (probaly all made by hand) and above all they were treasured and very often kept together with a ribbon.
So I would suggest if you have never sent or received a love letter, now is the time to do it, I think you will enjoy it, in fact why don’t you write one to yourself, it’s like a little journal activity, let your self know how you feel, what you are working towards, and how good you feel about yourself, even tell yourself how much you love yourself. And actually send it through the mail (NO i have not lost the plot) try it and let me know, just how connected you feel to yourself, if you love yourself enough you will do it, and of course don’t forget “If you don’t love yourself, how can you love anyone else”………………..Happy writing.
so much truth here

Beautiful post and you are right. We have lost the fine art of communicating in such a personal and meaning way. There is nothing nicer than receiving a card or note in the mail!

I used to write love notes to my hubby before we got married. I’d tuck them into his wallet, leave them under his pillow, or somewhere in the house after I’d left. He loved them (I didn’t get many back but never mind!) Ah, the good ole days. Great post. 🙂

It seems handwritten notes are becoming a thing of the past…but I still write “thank you” notes and keep a dream journal. Sometimes its the best way to express yourself at that moment. Thanks B! Love it.
