hello-goodbye-header

Hello and goodbye are things we say everyday, however they are also a strong emotion and our reaction varies from situation to situation.

I was at the airport today to pick up a friend, and while waiting I had a front row seat to this emotion, have you ever studied people in an airport, train station etc., some are so happy saying hello and others so sad saying goodbye.

Both words and situations can evoke tears, tears of joy and tears of sadness, the emotion arises from the bottom of our hearts, our inner sense, we are sensitive and the reaction can take us by surprise, a sudden rush for joy or sadness but the result on the outside is the same……tears, this can also be a good release of accumulated tension, the anxiety that builds as we wait for the arrival of that special someone, this is not always a person, it can be a pet, a package, but the emotion is so strong we shed the tears, we allow ourselves to release our emotion, this will then create a relief for you whether it be joy or sadness.

So, when we are suffering from built up tension and anxiety regarding our hello, why is this, we have missed that special someone, they mean so much to us,but maybe we don’t express that to them, do you express your feelings and emotions ? or do you keep them all inside like a well-kept secret ? not everyone can express their feelings, even though they suffer the consequences later, with a build up of tension and anxiety, by expressing your feelings does not guarantee no tears, we are all different, but our bodies would be more grateful as tension and anxiety does not always show in tears, it can show in physical body pain. When we express joy in our hello, the happiness is pouring out of us, and the sensation is different, but the release also benefits us, all round.

Personally, I think any goodbye is difficult if it is a distance goodbye and know it’s a long haul goodbye, but yes very painful if maybe you know it’s long long haul(like the other side of the world) goodbye………when you have no idea when the next hello will take place, this is when you must express your feelings, don’t leave yourself with this feeling or the person who leaves, emotions are not only felt by you, and the anxiety stays with you and also goes with them, not a good situation for anyone, as painful as it maybe, try to make it as painless as possible, express yourselves as much as possible.

Don’t close yourself out of your own emotions, pretending they are not there, because you are only kidding yourself, not good for you or your body, talking this out would be good advice. When we bottle things up inside of us, some where they will raise their ugly little heads ! and we could end up with serious problems, that will have to be dealt with, sooner or later.

Christmas time can be a very emotional time for many, family members and friends they arrive and say hello and then they depart and say goodbye, there is nothing wrong with shedding a tear, but if you feel emotional and the anxiety builds, try a little chat to explain yourself, it helps you and maybe others to. There is a simple observation on my part, which is why I bring you this post today, my morning was filled with emotion’s of others.

  1. I tend to be a very friendly person. One of my sisters says that’s because I make eye contact. People are always speaking to me, and vice versa. I suppose I could look at the ground when I walk like she does, but where’s the “Reach Out and Touch” in that. Sometimes I get more than just hello. I believe we were put here to connect, so let’s connect. I also have the best time at the airport when I’m not hitting the shops. I love to at least nod my head, smile, and show I’m friendly. Airport people watching can be fun too. Where’s everybody going I wonder. What I know for sure is…you get further in life being friendly and authentic, then you do keeping to yourself, your phone, your iPod. It’s made my life life much richer and more interesting for sure!

  3. Well written! The most painful goodbye is one you never hear from someone who left you without telling any reason and you don’t even know if you will ever hear from them or is the person fine or not?
You keep asking yourself what was your fault? Where you went wrong? All they leave behind are endless questions….
The most painful thing to handle…
